Our Challenge in Progress

We are still working on our challenge of making a slideshow about counting in another language. It involves lots of learning about makimg a plan, working together, making decisions, plus layout, colour and pronouncing words correctly. Some children have been managing their time really well and are nearly ready to publish - so watch this space and learn how to count in another language!

Moving Right Along

This week we brainstormed, drew examples of different types of vehicles and thought about what we would like to find out next.
Here are some of the questions we thought of?
I wonder why there is two planes on the outside and a cockpit in the middle?
I wonder how the car stops?
I wonder how a car moves?
How do those rockets work?
Why does a tractor have such big wheels?
What pulls a train?
Why do tyres have rubber?
How does a propeller move a boat?
Why does a propeller go sideways, straight down and on angles?
Why does this spin?

Makng Good Choices in Discovery Time

Read about some of the good choices we made in Discovery Time today.

Grace – Today at DT I made a good decision. I shared the water with everyone and speaking normally. I washed the windows nicely too.

Liam A – I made good choices in DT because I used a quiet voice and let other kids see my person.

Hunter – In DT I made good choices because I let Kai help me make a tow truck. I used a quiet voice.

Zac – In DT I played soccer. The teams were even. We shared the ball.

Jacob – In DT I made a good choice because I said to Dean, “I like your fireboat”. I made a good choice because I said to Liam B, “I like your mountain train track”.

Regan – In DT today Ben and me had an argument over the train because he had 2 carriages and I had 1 carriage. Then we sorted it out. So I had 1 and Ben had 2. That was how we sorted it out.

Cam R – I made good choices by sharing and letting others geta goal.

Thomas – I made a good decision by playing soccer fair. We made the teams even, and played fair and the game was fun.

Dean – Today in DT I made good decisions. I was at the water table and I was making a ship and Zac helped me.

Ana – Today at DT I let Dean join the lemonade stand. I washed the window using a quiet voice.

Oliver – Today I played soccer with Zac and Cam. Then I let Thomas play.

Rockets Learn How to be Firewise

Josh shares what he learned about being Firewise.

If there is a fire, Get Down Get Low and Get Out FAST and shut the door or window because if the fire reaches the air the fire will get bigger and the fire spreads fast. If you breathe the smoke you can die because the smoke can burn the inside of your lungs. If you are a firefighter you will be safe because you are wearing gear and been trained. But if you are a kid and you try it, you can get burnt or die. It is really important to be trained as a firefighter and wear the gear. If you hear the smoke alarm jump out of your window and go to your safe meeting place and call 111 and you will be safe.

Today some firefighters came to our school and told us all the important information and we practised what to do when you hear a smoke alarm. A firefighter showed us a movie and we had a big talk and we looked at the fire engine. By Josh
